While in the park with your pooch, take a few moments to complete any of the maintenance projects below or you can support the park by purchasing items from our Amazon Wish List.
Owners are expected to pick up their dog’s poop at all times. Unfortunately it doesn’t always happen, and it can lead to unsanitary conditions and foul smells. It can also spread illness, if another dog ingests it.
Instructions
Grab a few bags from the bag dispenser.
Look for poop, especially around the perimeter and under leaves.
Collect the poop and throw it away. Hurray!
Sometimes even the humans leave waste…
Instructions
Pick up any trash you see in the park. If it’s unsanitary to touch, use a poop bag to pick it up.
Throw it away. Hurray!
Loose leaves make it easy for poop to remain hidden.
Instructions
Grab a rake and a paper leaf bag from the grey shed in the little dog side of the park.
Rake the leaves and put them in the bag.
Fold the bag shut and leave it near the trash cans.
Put the rake bag in the shed, and close it using the bungee cords. Hurray!
Leveling the gravel helps it drain better.
Instructions
Identify areas where the gravel is higher than the ground around it. This often happens near the edges of the park.
Identify areas that are bare dirt or where dogs have dug a hole, like near the benches.
Grab a rake from the grey shed in the little dog side of the park.
Using the rake, move the gravel around to even out the surface level. If you can, use the excess gravel to fill in any areas you identified in step 2.
Put the rake bag in the shed, and close it using the bungee cords. Hurray!
Removing weeds mitigates foul odors, prevents dogs from ingesting Morning Glory (which is toxic), and prevents mosquitoes from lingering on the ground - ready to bite your ankles.
Instructions
Identify where there are weeds. They can often be found climbing up the fence near the entrance, on the ground near the perimeter of the gravel, and sometimes by the water fountains.
Grab gardening gloves from the grey shed in the little dog side.
Pull the weeds, taking care to pull out the roots. If the weed has grown into the fence, try to remove as much of the weed from the fence in addition to pulling out the root.
Throw the weeds in the trash.
Put the gloves back and shut the shed with the bungee cords. Hurray!
No one likes a dusty derriere!
Instructions
Grab some cleaning wipes from the grey shed in the little dog park, then close the shed.
Wipe down the benches, ideally when there are no dogs around to lick the cleaning liquid as it dries.
Throw the wipes away. Hurray!
